About Aqua Forest Aquarium
Aqua Forest Aquarium was founded in 2004 by brothers George and Steven Lo after they encountered the Nature Aquarium style during travels in Japan, and it became the first US retail store built specifically around that aesthetic. Parent company Archaea International is a direct importer and authorized North American distributor for ADA (Aqua Design Amano), so the Fillmore Street showroom carries a depth of aquascaping hardscape, substrates, CO2 equipment, and plant tools that general fish stores simply don't stock, alongside what reviewers describe as the largest selection of aquatic plants in the Bay Area. Display tanks are arranged as finished aquascapes rather than bare holding tanks, which hobbyists cite as genuinely instructive to see in person. Long-time reviewers, including some outside California, have called it the best local fish store they've ever visited specifically because of this narrow, deep focus on planted-tank craft rather than a broad livestock selection. It draws a national audience of aquascapers who plan West Coast visits around a stop here.
